The Balm In Gilead, Inc. hosted its 9th Annual Healthy Churches 2030 Conference, November 14 – 17, 2022. Over 2,000 individuals registered for this life-altering event. Health-related materials, insights, and training resources were shared by public health professionals, religious leaders, community activists, and celebrity advocates.
The three focus areas of The Balm In Gilead, Inc. is infrastructure, sustainability and access. The Balm In Gilead works directly with churches and faith-based organizations around the country to establish systems and programs to assist underserved African American communities. Throughout the year, tools are made available to help communities establish health ministries to educate individuals on diabetes, cardiovascular disease, mental health, cancer, COVID-19, and other topics.
Faith institutions are examples of sustainable infrastructure, with the earliest Black churches dating back to the 1700s. These faith-based organizations provide a prime hub for healthcare, wellness, and health advocacy.
“Access is the key or all is lost. We want every man, woman and child to get access to healthcare and information. Our goal is to reach more than 10,000 attendees virtually during the 2023 conference,” said Dr. Pernessa C. Seele, Founder & CEO, The Balm In Gilead, Inc.
New for 2023, The Balm In Gilead, Inc. will provide an opportunity for individuals to become community ambassadors. As a community ambassador, you can host the virtual Healthy Churches 2030 Conference in your home, church or community center.
Roadmap 2030 Forums are also planned leading up to the 10th Annual Healthy Churches 2030 Conference, November 13 – 16, 2023. Attendees can hear from public health experts, health advocates, and others at these regional in-person events.
