HOW TO BECOME A CERTIFIED SERVICE PARTNER
OF THE BALM IN GILEAD
Partnership Certification is for a term of one year.
Organizations must be re-certified each year to maintain certification status.
- Submit the application, all supporting documentation
listed below by July 8, 2002.
- Provide a letter of intent to The Balm In Gilead signed by the Executive
Director of the organization indicating:
- Reasons why your organization is seeking partnership or re-certification with
The Balm In Gilead.
- What your agency hopes to achieve as a Certified Service Partner.
- What your agency's goals and objectives are for working with the Black church
community.
- Your agency's commitment to adhering to The Balm In Gilead's requirements of
Certified Service Partnership as outlined within REQUIREMENTS
FOR PARTNERSHIP.
If your agency is presently a certified service partner of The Balm In Gilead,
please discuss reasons for seeking renewal partnership status.
If your agency is a health department, letters of intent must be signed by
the program director or departmental director in order to be accepted. All others
must submit letters signed by the executive director of the agency.
- Submit a copy of your agency's annual report or brochure of purpose
and a listing of programs and services.
- Submit a copy of your agencies 501(c) 3, if applicable.
- Registration fees for the National Certification and Capacity Building
Conference must be received by July 8, 2002.

BENEFITS OF CERTIFIED SERVICE PARTNERSHIP
The Balm In Gilead is happy to acknowledge and provide organizations that meet
all the requirements described in the preceding sections with the following:
- Affiliation with a nationally recognized organization that has proven
expertise in the mobilization of churches in HIV/AIDS awareness throughout the
African Diaspora.
- Listing on The Balm In Gilead's web site and in selected national
publications (including brochure and press materials for The 2003 Black Church
Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS, March 2-8, 2003.)
- Access number to obtain updated information from The Balm In Gilead's
web site regarding funding, HIV/AIDS faith-based initiatives and issues on HIV/AIDS
in domestic and international communities.
- Ongoing technical assistance in mobilizing Black churches to address
HIV/AIDS through The Balm In Gilead's Black Church HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance
Center funded through a cooperative agreement by the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention.
- Fifteen percent discount on all Balm In Gilead educational products.
- Wall plaque identifying the organization as a Certified Service Partner
of The Balm In Gilead for the year of certification (2002-2003).
- As appropriate, free HIV education materials and promotional items
from The Balm In Gilead for local efforts.
- The opportunity to co-sponsor Regional Capacity Building workshops
sponsored by The Balm In Gilead throughout the coming year.
