The press conference, attended by this year's national spokespeople, media representatives, church members and certified service partners in the Washington, DC-area, marked the beginning of week-long events across the country. "This is a partnership for life," said Seele in her remarks embracing the partnership of this year's spokespeople. National Medical Association President, Dr. Winston Price, added, "We at the National Medical Association will continue to show our support in any way possible, in addition, to providing literature and the educational programs that we currently sponsor." Other speakers included: Lydia Watts, representing District of Columbia Mayor Anthony Williams and Rev. Dr. Derrick Harkins, Pastor, Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, Washington, D.C.
