Balm In Gilead's Headquarters Has Moved to Richmond,
Virginia.
(NEW YORK, NY) – December 2006
It is now official!
The Balm In Gilead has relocated its corporate offices to Richmond, Virginia,
while establishing U.S. satellite offices in Washington, DC and New York City.
The New York office, still located in Times Square, will continue to work
on national mobilization efforts of engaging faith communities in addressing
HIV/AIDS and addressing cervical cancer in Black women. However, greater attention
will be given to the Balm In Gilead’s work in the Tri-state area. Darlene
Cheek is director of the New York office.
The Washington DC office, under the direction of Director Rev. Dr. Susan Newman
will expand and enhance the Balm In Gilead’s HIV/AIDS Faith Initiative
in Washington, DC with a specific goal of increasing the participation of African
American faith communities in establishing HIV/AIDS ministries, with a focus
on providing HIV testing services within their communities.
The Balm In Gilead’s Tanzania office is located in Dar es Salaam where
Rev. Evatt Mugarura is the Country Director.
From its headquarters in Richmond, VA, The Balm In Gilead will continue to
strengthen its commitment and dedication to the capacity development of faith
communities throughout the African Diaspora to address life-threatening diseases,
especially HIV/AIDS.

The Balm In Gilead is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization
whose mission is to improve the health status of people of the
African Diaspora by building the capacity of faith communities
to address life-threatening diseases, especially HIV/AIDS. For
18 years, The Balm In Gilead has mobilized The Black Church Week
of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS, which engages Black churches
to become centers for education, compassion and care in the fight
against HIV/AIDS.
