Police to give away steering wheel locks

* The Tucson Police Department's Auto Theft Unit is distributing Master Lock
steering wheel locks to the first 40 people who register in the Watch Your Car
program at 11 a.m. today at The Home Depot, 1150 W. Irvington Road.
Officers will be in the parking area and the site will be marked with the
Watch Your Car banner. The program allows for vehicles belonging to registered
participants to be stopped by law enforcement between the hours of 1 a.m. and
5 a.m. in order to verify that the driver is either the owner or an authorized
driver.
Drivers must provide a valid driver's license and vehicle registration with
a vehicle identification number. Only one lock will be given per household.
AIDS project service
* The Kente Project commemoration of "The [Black Church Week of Prayer
for the Healing] of AIDS" will take place from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at
Grace Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 1019 E. 31st St. The event is a gathering
of speakers, church choirs and soloists.
