Week of prayer for AIDS sufferers set

DAYTONA BEACH -- Area churches will be taking part in the annual
[Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of] AIDS, spokeswoman
Dr. B.J. Primus-Cotton said.
The event will be observed at the Allen African Methodist Episcopal
Church, 580 George Engram Blvd., starting with an opening program
4 p.m. Sunday, Primus-Cotton said.
The program will continue through March 9 with daily prayer sessions
and speakers that will include the Rev. John Long, pastor of Tubman
King Community Church; Bishop Lillie Deloris Ward, Emmanuel Church
of the Living God; and Anton W. Elwood, a ministerial student serving
at Allen A.M.E. Church.
Primus-Cotton said the observance, now in its 13th year, involves
more than 10,000 churches in the United States and is the largest
HIV/AIDS awareness campaign targeting African-Americans.
