The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS begins Sunday March 7, 1999. Founded ten years ago by The Balm in Gilead, a national AIDS service organization, the week is designed to mobilize churches and community agencies across the country to address the AIDS epidemic in the black community.

Through sermons, prayer, music and information about HIV/AIDS prevention, participating churches become active proponents of AIDS education and compassionate care.
