Journal Star
Peoria, IL
03.03.01
Peoria - Because AIDS is the No. 1 cause of death for black adults
ages 25-44 and new infections are disproportionately on the rise
in the black community, the local Minorty AIDS Awareness Council
and area churches will sponsor prevention and treatment activities
throughout next week.
A free musical praise service Sunday afternoon will kick off activities
for the 12th annual Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing
of AIDS. The praise service will begin at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist
East Campus Building at 415 St. Marks Court, Suite 106 A and B in
Peoria.
Choirs from throughout the community will participate, and materials
on HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and care will be available.
The week is a national program supported by more than 65 AIDS service
organizations and health departments.
