AIDS Prayer Week Observed
Freedom in Christ Christian Community Church will participate in
the Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS with observances
beginning Sunday.
The church will display panels form the AIDS Memorial Quilt throughout
the week. On Wednesday, the Rev. Jesse McNeal Jr., pastor of Freedom
in Christ, will lead a Healing of AIDS prayer service at 7 p.m.
In a press release, McNeal said, "Our goal is to provide prayer,
leadership, compassion and information to help the families in our
congregation and community who are facing HIV/AIDS."
The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS begins
annually on the first Sunday in March and is marking its 12th anniversary.
As many as 10,000 churches are expected to participate, according
to organizers.
