Local Organizations Produce AIDS Awareness Event

A weeklong series of AIDS awareness events will be held at various churches in the Hartford area from March 4 -10. The week will culminate with "Hope Education Awareness and Love (HEAL), Our Community Gospel Fest, "on Saturday March 10, in Hartford.

The events have been organized by the Hartford Area Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS, a branch of the Balm In Gilead's national imitative, and is meant to portray "the spirit of healing" through education and awareness programs for those at risk.

HEAL has been organized through the collaboration of Hartford Black Churches, the AIDS Ministries Program of the Salvation Army, the City of Hartford Health Department, the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the Institute for Community Research, and the Urban League of Greater Hartford.
