The Balm In Gilead and Sweet Unity Farms have partnered together to bring Tanzania 100% Gourmet Coffee directly to your kitchen table or special gathering of family and friends. We are inviting you to join our partnership for Positive Global Change. With the purchase of every bag of Sweet Unity Farms Coffee, our partnership will generate funds that will directly support programs designed to improve the lives of people living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in Tanzania and in the United States.

A portion of funds from every bag of coffee you purchase will directly support local farmers of the Mshikamano Farmers Group located in the Mount Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.

Our collective partnership consists of YOU, The Balm In Gilead and Sweet Unity Farms. Our message is simple: The power of social conscious individuals and organizations coming together to promote positive global change will further fortify and communicate our position of leadership as change agents within our global village.

The Farmers and David Robinson

The Mshikanamo Farmers Group is headed by David Robinson, Son of Baseball Legend, Jackie Robinson. Living in Tanzania for over 20 years, David is a Tanzania coffee farmer, a member of a 400 member cooperative, coffee exporter and buyer.

David first saw Africa's beauty and potential at age 14 during travels to Africa with his mother. By age 19 after solo travel through 8 African countries including Tanzania, David was committed to a life in Africa for the purpose of enhancing Africa's global integration and the human development he believed would follow. In 1995 David founded Up-Country International Products in New York to bring fine coffees from family-owned farms to the marketplace under the brand name Sweet Unity Farms. The name Sweet Unity came from the emotion felt at the sight of 5 different tribes, including an African American family, engaged together in the task of turning forest into a coffee farm. Today, Sweet Unity Farms is a cooperative of over 450 members.

While continuing the legacy of both his father and mother by lifting the consciousness of our global village to a higher way of thinking and being, David and his wife Ruti continue to live in Tanzania with 8 of their children.
