The Tanzanian Ministry of Health and Social Welfare estimates that there are 2.5 million orphans and vulnerable children in Tanzania, of which only about 6% receive external support. There is an urgent need to increase access to and improve the quality of essential support services for O/MVCs. These essential services include, shelter; nutrition supplements; education and health; and psycho-social counseling.
