The Black Church Week of Prayer For
the Healing of AIDS
Sunday, March 2nd through Sunday, March 8th, 2008 will mark the 18th
year
that we observe The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS.
This international awareness campaign started by the visionary founder of The
Balm In Gilead, Pernessa Seele, now involves over 10,000 churches in the United
States, and is the largest HIV/AIDS awareness campaign targeting African Americans.
As The Balm In Gilead expands its work into the African continent, the organization
seeks to build a bridge for Africans, and people of African descent to work together
to stop the devastation of AIDS upon the sons and daughters of Africa worldwide.
During The Black Church Week of Prayer for the Healing of AIDS congregations are
joining hands across the Atlantic Ocean and throughout urban and rural America
to pray for strength, courage and wisdom as they work to make their churches community
centers for HIV/AIDS education, prevention and care.
